Today's sermon was a good one to hear... asking about how when you lose things, what is our response in those tough times. Pastor Jonathan referenced 1 Samuel 18-21 and talked about how David lost everything. His job, wife, mentor, friend, and his identity. Jonathan went on to share a video that i think is a good reminder for all Christians, and he prompted the question: "Do I long for the gifts more than the Giver?" The Gospel is hope and a promise for eternal life, but it does not mean there will never be trials or difficulty in life... God uses those for our good because he wants us to be depentant on him! check out this video! Wow, what a reminder of the hope we have in the Gospel becasue it is Christ and not the hope of "Pleasantville."
We ended the service with this song... what joy we can still have even when we go through the trials because our focus is on Christ. God allows these trials to take place, so that we may be dependant on him and he be glorified. Not many poeple grow when they are confortable. Know that God is good all the time, and all the time God is good! He is enough, be satified in him. Psalm 73:25-26
Dessert Song
This is my prayer in the desert
And all that's within me feels dry
This is my prayer in the hunger in me
My God is a God who provides
And this is my prayer in the fire
In weakness or trial or pain
There is a faith proved
Of more worth than gold
So refine me Lord through the flames
And I will bring praise
I will bring praise
No weapon forged against me shall remain
I will rejoice
I will declare
God is my victory and He is here
And this is my prayer in the battle
And triumph is still on it's way
I am a conqueror and co-heir with Christ
So firm on His promise I'll stand
All of my life
In every season
You are still God
I have a reason to sing
I have a reason to worship
This is my prayer in the harvest
When favor and providence flow
I know I'm filled to be empited again
The seed I've recieved I will sow
